Sage News

Dear Sage Families,
All of our returning children have enjoyed a lovely start to a familiar routine in a changed environment. They have located favorite work in a new place and discovered new work with anticipation of a lesson. Many of our returning children have commented on the changes in our environment. They delight in discussing what is “the same” and what is “different.” Their experience and confidence shines as they welcome our new friends. Our new children are in the very gentle hands and hearts of Ruby, Jackson, Harry, Regina, Josie, Lila, Owen, Georgia, Xan, and Isa.
One or two of our new friends have arrived with tears. This is normal and to be expected. Before the new children arrive, the children and I gather to discuss how our new friends might feel when they first come to Puddletown School. The children recall and share their feelings about their first days. We brainstorm ideas that might help comfort our new friends. Some of the ideas the children have offered have been sharing their stories, offering a tissue to dry tears, offering a hug, and holding a new child’s hand as we walk to the park to keep them safe. You might find your children practicing some of these grace and courtesy lessons at home.
Eileen and I are looking forward to experiencing your children’s growth in their time at Puddletown School. If you have any questions or concerns, please, do not hesitate to send an email to the school (Andrea always gives me a copy), drop a note in the basket on the bulletin board in the mudroom, or call the school. I will have office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3:30 and 5:00 to meet in person or have a phone conference.

We thank all of you for a beautiful start to a new school year,
Amy

School is back in session and the building buzzing with activity. Many of the new children have had their first day of school and we are all anxiously awaiting the rest of the Puddletowners to join. Some of the things you may hear your children talking about are:
*The exciting fire drill(s) we had today
*Olives blooming on the olive trees that we see when we walk to Kenilworth park
*The fish (Orange Clover in Sage and Blumen in Lavender)
*Many new and beautiful items on the shelves
*Xan's birthday celebration in the Sage classroom
*Cherry tomatoes from Josephine's and Rory's gardens (Lavender) that we have been having for snack
*New songs, new friends
